DESCRIPTION

The Senior Manager, Quality & Safety–India is a hands-on, player-coach responsible for developing a small Quality team while personally executing Quality Engineering and Supplier Quality Engineering activities. The role requires direct engagement across manufacturing, inspection, and supplier locations, including supplier audits, 8D/CAPA investigations, defect analysis, cross-functional issue resolution, and communication of quality performance and risk to senior leadership. This position is not intended to operate primarily through delegation or administrative oversight.

 

Quality and Supplier Quality are the primary responsibilities of this position. Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is a secondary responsibility focused on local compliance, corporate program deployment, incident support, performance monitoring, and coordination.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Strategic Quality Leadership

  • Establish and execute the India quality strategy in alignment with global Quality objectives and local business priorities.
  • Serve as a hands-on technical leader who maintains personal Quality Engineering and Supplier Quality Engineering deliverables while directing the broader Quality function.
  • Maintain effective alignment with the Director, Global Quality and Continuous Improvement and local business leadership.
  • Personally assume ownership of significant, high-risk, technically complex, capacity-constrained, or escalated quality issues through verified closure.

 Quality Management System Oversight

  • Implement and verify standardized processes, procedures, controls, and records across applicable Loram India operations and supplier activities.
  • Plan and lead management reviews, internal audits, certification audits, corrective actions, and the timely closure of audit findings.
  • Ensure Quality Management System requirements are effectively integrated into manufacturing, inspection, warehouse, engineering, procurement, and supplier activities.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Develop, maintain, and report meaningful quality and supplier-performance indicators
  • Analyze defect, rework, warranty, customer, supplier, and operational-quality data to identify systemic risks and improvement priorities.
  • Present quality performance, significant risks, resource requirements, and recommended actions to local and global leadership.
  • Ensure performance reporting drives decisions and corrective action rather than functioning solely as an administrative activity.

 Supplier Quality Strategy

  • Execute on an assigned portfolio of supplier selection support, supplier qualification, supplier process audits, component qualification, supplier performance monitoring, supplier corrective action, and supplier development activities.
  • Lead complex supplier NCR, SCAR/SCAPA, CAPA, and 8D investigations from problem definition and containment through root-cause validation, permanent corrective action, and effectiveness verification.
  • Conduct supplier-site investigations, process audits, source inspections, containment, and problem-solving activities to address defects, escapes, rework, warranty exposure, and adverse performance trends.
  • Lead prioritized supplier corrective-action, development, and recovery activities that improve process capability, product conformity, delivery performance, and long-term supplier effectiveness.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead complex internal NCR, CAPA, and 8D investigations from containment through verified closure.
  • Apply appropriate problem-solving and analytical tools, including 5 Why, fishbone analysis, Pareto analysis, process mapping, statistical analysis, and risk-based decision-making.
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma and continuous-improvement methods to stabilize processes, eliminate recurring problems, and improve Right First-Time performance.

Environmental Health and Safety

  • Support compliance with applicable local EHS regulations, company policies, and corporate EHS requirements.
  • Coordinate the implementation of EHS goals, programs, procedures, training, and performance reporting in alignment with company objectives.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Establish priorities, assign work, review technical output, remove obstacles, and hold team members accountable for timely and effective results.
  • Create a culture in which problems are surfaced early, facts and objective evidence drive decisions, and quality issues are resolved at their source.
  • Balance team leadership, coaching, and performance management with recurring hands-on Quality Engineering and Supplier Quality Engineering execution.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (Masters preferred).

Experience: 
•    Minimum 9 years of progressive quality experience in a manufacturing environment, including significant hands-on Quality Engineering or Supplier Quality Engineering responsibility.
•    Demonstrated success supporting ISO 9001 certification (EN 15085), internal audits, external audits.
•    Experience in conducting supplier qualification audits, supplier process audits, and manufacturing-process audits.
•    Ability and willingness to work full-time onsite and travel to suppliers and Loram locations as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Licenses/Certifications:  
•    Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 (and EN 15085 if applicable).
•    Six Sigma Black Belt Certification or equivalent.
•    ASQ certifications (e.g., CQE, CMQ/OE) preferred
