GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The role of Supervisor, Warehouse and Shipping is to supervise and coordinate activity in the warehouse while ensuring the safety of all employees. This will include oversite of all Shipping, Picking and Receiving activities and will include a focus on standardization and documentation through work instructions and standard work practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Warehouse Planning and Supervision
- Plan employee work schedules, coordinate resources and adjust as needed to meet schedules and customer demand.
- Direct supervision of union warehouse employees
- Become the subject matter expert on all warehouse processes and owning all related Work Instructions to ensure accuracy.
- Champion continuous improvement by developing process improvements seeking efficiency gains through waste elimination.
- Oversee projects, act as the Subject Matter Expert for the warehouse, provides support and stakeholder input to other team members for projects
- Administer Union contract within acceptable guidelines and practices
- Coach and develop employees to meet business needs and grow the capabilities of the team
- Establish and maintain the visual management system for the warehouse
- Assist in maintaining the accuracy of inventory levels and part accuracy throughout the IFS site inventory by ensuring current, accurate and complete inventory transactions.
- Develop visual management tools to ensure clear and accurate process flows
- Utilize data to make fact-based decisions and priorities.
Safety Management
- Drive a safety culture. Promote safety awareness and provide safety training
- Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
- Review safety measures during all phases of warehouse and shipping processes. Ensure job and safety briefings are conducted. Be a leader in 5S and a clean and organized work culture.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate Degree
Experience: 2+ years’ experience in materials and logistics with a focus in Supply Base Management and Lean practices and direct supervision and development of employees OR 4+ years of Loram experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to become a yellow belt.
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly become familiar with Railroad products and services, particularly pertaining to maintenance of track and structures
- Possess proficient computer and software skills, good word processing skills using Microsoft applications
- Inventory management systems experience, strong knowledge of inventory control practices and procedures
- Good personal presentation skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines efficiently
- Must be able to maintain Loram Leadership training and certifications
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines efficiently
* Or have an equivalent combination of experience and education of 4+ years’ experience in supply chain, warehouse, or manufacturing leadership.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in management related field
Licenses/Certifications: Supervisor I certification. Green Belt and lead on Kaizen event or continuous improvement project
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Additional Leadership training and certifications
- A working knowledge of railroads, transportation, heavy construction, or combination a plus.
