As a pioneer in the rail maintenance industry, we’re expanding and looking for a Track Protection Officer to join our team. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced and driven individual to contribute to our success by overseeing one of our unique rail grinders across the BHP network.
Work structure: FIFO to Port Hedland, 8:6 roster.
About the role:
As a Track Protection Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of all activities within the rail corridor. You will be responsible for applying and enforcing BHP and Loram’s Safeworking procedures, facilitating safe access to the track, and leading daily Pre-Work Briefings with work crews.
This role is essential to maintaining the safe and efficient operation of track maintenance and project works. You will act as the key interface between the rail network and worksite teams, demonstrating a proactive approach to risk management and operational coordination.
Responsibilities:

Conduct daily Pre-Work Briefings to ensure all crews are aware of Safeworking requirements.
-
Apply and enforce BHP and Loram Safeworking systems and procedures.
-
Coordinate safe and timely access to the rail corridor for work groups.
-
Interpret and manage site documentation including Safe Notices, Train Operating Conditions Waivers, Site Rail Diagrams, and Worksite Procedures.
-
Proactively monitor safety and compliance across multiple worksites.
-
Perform alternate suitable duties when protection duties are not required, if competent.

Support a culture of safety, respect, and performance in alignment with Loram’s Core Values.
