GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Engineering Manager, Fluids is responsible for organizing, developing, and leading all aspects of their engineering discipline. This position focuses on the structuring and operation of the group to ensure they function as an efficient and cohesive unit; the conceptualizing and day-to-day management of simultaneous projects; delivering quality designs to agreed specifications within time and budget constraints.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Functional & Technical Skills
- Design and develop complex fluid power systems (hydraulic, air, water, fuel), equipment, and products for industrial machinery and railroad vehicles.
- Develop and ensure standardization and best practices for design methods, analysis, and documentation.
- Provide technical evaluation of supplier offerings, monitor current industry trends associated with related systems, and provide technical vision for Loram product enhancements, manufacturing efficiencies, and cost reduction opportunities.
Operational Excellence
- Promote environment of continuous improvement of engineering processes and documentation to increase throughput, design efficiencies, and product quality.
- Ensure the group achieves objectives and project completion within specified budget and time frame.
Leadership and Talent Development
- Create and implement technical and personal development plans for personnel.
- Lead, manage, and supervise internal and external Engineering resources.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering
Experience: 8+ years design experience leading technical design teams or department including budget and personnel performance management.
Licenses/Certifications: Obtain and maintain railroad safety training and credentials
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of business software including MS Office suite.
- Ability to collaborate with others to clarify requirements and develop solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: MS in Mechanical Engineering
Experience: 8+ years’ experience in the following:
- Railroads, transportation, agricultural, or heavy construction equipment design.
- Hydraulic system design integration for Open Circuit and Closed-Circuit systems for industrial equipment
- HST system design and integration.
- Pneumatic design and integration for railroad brake and auxiliary systems.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE)
- IFPS hydraulic and pneumatic certifications
- Six Sigma certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge in Autodesk and ERP software
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires successful completion of:
