GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

Purchase materials consistent with Loram specifications, coordinate and maintain qualified suppliers, and develop new qualified suppliers under the oversight of a supervisor. Through ensuring proper suppliers are utilized to efficiently purchase quality materials necessary to build and maintain equipment, this position impacts on-time delivery of equipment, equipment uptime performance, contributes to cost control activities, and overall internal and external customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform analysis, process transactions, and provide reports utilizing Loram’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Perform analysis of requirements for components and necessary scheduling.
  • Attend cross functional project team meetings and maintain Loram functional area relationships to manage procurements and deadlines.
  • Negotiate cost reductions and continuous process improvements in supplier relationships on an ongoing basis.
  • Require compliance from suppliers to purchase order terms and conditions, involving all of the performance parameters for which they are contractually responsible.
  • Assist in maintaining supplier relationships through effective communications.
  • Select suppliers based upon their competence, competitive standing, and compatibility with Loram’s ISO procedures
  • Request and evaluate quotations for required materials from qualified suppliers.
  • Meet and exceed procurement benchmarks for quality, on time delivery, and workload throughput.
  • Complete purchase transactions, ensuring that all deliverables are met.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree.

Experience: 1 year buyer experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of computers and ERP software with good word processing and Excel skills using Microsoft applications.
  • A working knowledge of railroads, transportation, heavy construction, or
  • Knowledge of or ability to quickly become familiar with Railroad products and

*Or 5+ years of equivalent combination of education and experience
