GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing curriculum and training programs for Loram’s customer care teams and customers. This role focuses on enhancing the competencies and skills of team members by designing effective blended learning solutions that support Loram’s Operations programs. The position ensures superior workforce preparation through the development of performance metrics, particularly for technically skilled employees.
Functional & Technical Skills
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Operations teams to identify training needs related to operational and maintenance work, as well as changes in policies, procedures, regulations, safety initiatives, and technologies.
- Design and develop training curriculum, modules, and teaching plans for machine operations and maintenance.
- Rapidly synthesize and create course content based on input from subject matter experts, written materials, previous training courses, interviews, and other resources.
- Develop and facilitate train-the-trainer courses to ensure effective knowledge transfer.
- Create instructional outlines and determine appropriate delivery methods, including individual training, group instruction, computer-based training (CBT), lectures, demonstrations, meetings, and workshops.
- Develop assessment tools to measure trainee progress, ensure skill retention, and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
- Conduct training needs assessments, design effective learning solutions, and create storyboards to help stakeholders visualize the final product.
Operational Excellence
- Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with Quality, Safety, Engineering, Production, and Operations teams to drive innovation in training delivery.
- Manage contract Instructional Designers and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives with Quality teams and adjust training curriculum accordingly.
- Train others in instructional design principles, content development, and learning program production while providing expert consultation on program measurement, visualization, and multi-modal delivery.
- Support e-authoring tools and multimedia content creation, including Adobe Creative Suite, Lectora, Articulate Storyline, Vyond, and video production (staging, shooting, and editing).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: BA/BS degree Communications, Education, Business Data analytics or a related field
Experience: 3+ years experience in Training and Development or Instructional Design. Prior curriculum design. Delivery of adult classroom and e-learning solutions and proven experience designing multiple training events. Utilize instructional design methods SAM and ADDIE, Blooms Taxonomy and Allen’s CCAF expertise (or like models).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong working knowledge of compensation best practices
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Must possess high level of discretion, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
- Must possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills while exercising sound judgment.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
