GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing warehouse safety, operations, ensuring efficiency and inventory accuracy. This role involves managing warehouse employees, optimizing processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance inventory management and operational effectiveness. The ideal candidate will foster a strong safety culture, drive continuous improvement and leverage data to support strategic decision-making.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Warehouse Management
- Develop and implement workforce planning strategies, optimizing employee scheduling and resource allocation to meet business demands and customer expectations.
- Provide strategic leadership to warehouse teams, driving performance, engagement, and accountability to achieve operational excellence.
- Act as the key decision-maker for all warehouse operations, ensuring strict compliance with policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
- Lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Oversee and direct warehouse-related projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align initiatives with broader business objectives.
- Drive talent development, mentoring and coaching employees to build a high-performing team aligned with organizational goals.
- Establish and enforce a visual management system that enhances warehouse efficiency, organization, and real-time performance tracking.
- Ensure inventory integrity through robust controls, leveraging the IFS system for real-time accuracy and compliance with financial and operational standards.
- Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making and set priorities.
Inventory Control
- Develop and implement inventory strategies to maintain optimal stock levels across the global supply chain while balancing cost control.
- Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Inventory Control, Aftermarket, Marketing, and Fleet Operations teams to define strategic inventory stocking levels and deployment plans.
- Oversee forecast implementation, communication, and coordination to ensure optimal product availability and service levels.
- Analyze and address supply-demand gaps by optimizing allocation strategies, resolving intra-business unit priorities, and enhancing reporting tools for greater efficiency.
- New part release and related maintenance: Make vs. buy decision, create product structure set up in IFS, enter estimated material costs, update planning methods, safety stock, order cover time, and lot size.
Safety Management
- Foster a strong safety culture, promoting awareness and compliance among all team members.
- Provide safety training and ensure adherence to company policies and regulations.
- Enforce safety standards throughout all warehouse and shipping operations.
- Conduct job and safety briefings regularly to reinforce best practices.
- Lead 5S initiatives, maintaining a clean, organized, and structured work environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate degree
Experience: 2+ years’ experience in materials and logistics with a focus in Supply Base Management and Lean practices. 3+ years of direct supervision and development of employees.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- A working knowledge of railroads, transportation, heavy construction, or combination
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly become familiar with Railroad products and services, particularly pertaining to maintenance of track and structures
- Knowledge of computers and software with good word processing skills using Microsoft applications
- Good personal presentation skills
*Or equivalent combination of 7+ years’ experience in supply chain, warehouse or manufacturing leadership.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in management related field
Licenses/Certifications: Maintain railroad safety training and certifications. Supervisor I certification. Green Belt and lead on Kaizen event or continuous improvement project
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Leadership training and certifications
- A working knowledge of railroads, transportation, heavy construction, or combination
