GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for general accounting support for Loram’s corporate accounting functions and assigned global business segments. Primary responsibilities include preparation and posting of journal entries; preparation, analysis, and reporting of assigned general ledger account activity. Lead role in the month-end and year-end financial closings. Lead role in the analysis and publishing of financial reports. Supports internal and external audit functions. May lead or direct the work of other staff, associates, or interns.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Operational Excellence
- Preparation and posting of journal entries and performing assigned general ledger account reconciliations
- Performs monthly and year-end closings including processing assigned accruals, analysis, preparation, tie-out, and review of financial reports and related disclosures
- Contributes to the publishing and maintenance of consolidated financial reports and statements
- Key contact for global entities needing assistance with treasury management, intercompany, and expense reporting transactions
- Leads and coordinates efforts with the broader accounting teams including finance, tax, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost, and payroll
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on cross-functional projects, strategic business priorities, and IT-related projects such as system implementation, upgrades, etc.
- Leads and/or assists with special projects and other duties as assigned
Compliance
- Serve as key contact for interim and year-end external audit activity related to areas of responsibility. Interacts with auditors and prepares client workpapers and analysis
- Prepares and maintains work procedures for assigned tasks. Maintains data integrity and code part hierarchy within the ERP system
Global-International
- Leads centralized accounting and financial reporting for assigned global entities, including capital expenditure administration process, fixed asset processing, and reporting for a capital-intensive business
- Leads elements of accounting requirements associated with global entity structure such as foreign exchange rate gain/loss, intercompany transactions and eliminations, consolidation, etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience: 5+ years of related experience in Accounting
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks
- High level of accountability
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates ability and experience in managing complex processes
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail
- Proven experience in financial statement preparation and reporting
- Proven knowledge of accounting, audit, and financial principles
- Strong aptitude for systems and software applications, with proficient skills using Microsoft applications
- A disciplined work ethic and advocate for Loram’s values, vision, and mission
In lieu of education 9+ years of equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Advanced Degree or CPA/CMA, or MBA.
Experience: US GAAP knowledge; Manufacturing work experience; Working with a complex structure of companies
Software: IFS, WebFocus, Dayforce, Cornerstone, Prophix, Tableau, OnBase, PMF, Concur, SharePoint
