GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Manager, HR Operations will lead the HR Service Center as the first point of contact for employees, ensuring efficient and responsive HR support. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the Service Center to provide seamless HR assistance while also driving programs that enhance employee engagement, recognize achievements, and foster a positive organizational culture. Additionally, this individual will spearhead initiatives that celebrate employee contributions, milestones, and successes, while overseeing events that promote collaboration, morale, and team building across departments and business units.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
HR Service Center Leadership:
- Lead and manage the HR Service Center as the first point of contact for employees, ensuring timely and effective HR support.
- Develop and implement processes to enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of the Service Center.
- Oversee a team of HR representatives, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Handle and oversee administrative HR tasks, including managing employee records, processing HR transactions, assist with maintaining HR systems, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Monitor and analyze HR inquiries to identify trends, improve processes, and enhance the employee experience.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners and leadership to develop knowledge resources, FAQs, and self-service tools for employees to enhance the employee experience.
- Stay informed on best practices and industry trends to continuously improve HR service delivery and engagement initiatives.
Employee Recognition Programs:
- Design, implement, and manage employee recognition programs that highlight achievements, milestones, and contributions.
- Oversee service awards, peer recognition initiatives, and performance-based recognition programs.
- Partner with leadership to align recognition programs with organizational goals and values.
- Track and assess the effectiveness of recognition initiatives and continuously optimize them.
Employee Events & Engagement:
- Plan and execute company-wide employee events that foster engagement, collaboration, and a positive workplace culture.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive calendar of employee events (e.g., company-wide meetings, team-building activities, holiday parties, recognition ceremonies).
- Source and manage external vendors (e.g., event planners, catering services, entertainment providers) to deliver high-quality events.
- Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, catering, entertainment, and communications for all internal employee and company events. Ensure all events align with the company’s values, mission, and branding guidelines.
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure events align with business objectives and employee needs.
- Develop creative and inclusive engagement strategies to strengthen workplace morale.
- Analyze employee feedback and event participation metrics to refine programs and ensure effectiveness.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education BA/BS or equivalent in Human Resources or Business Administration
Experience
- 5+ years HR Service Center experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
- 5+ years event management/employee recognition experience
- 3+ years supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong project management/organizational skills
- Effective leadership and collaboration; passionate about workplace culture and engagement
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills across various audiences
- Budget management and cost control experience
- Creative thinking and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in event management software/tools
- Proven ability to influence and engage at all levels
- High level of discretion, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented self-starter with critical thinking skills; can prioritize and work both independently and on a team
Preferred Qualifications, Licenses/Certifications
- HR certification (e.g. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) and Event Planning
- Experience creating digital recognition or virtual engagement programs
- Experience in fast-paced environments
- Knowledge of or ability to learn railroads, transportation, heavy construction, or similar fields
