GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Global Logistics Specialist will be the subject matter expert for global freight and logistics for all Loram locations worldwide. This role is responsible for supporting domestic and international logistics activities required to successfully deliver machines and parts in a compliant manner around the globe while meeting customer specific requirements. Additionally, the Global Logistics Specialist will work diligently to ensure that documentation, compliance, and logistics functions are executed professionally, timely, and proficiently.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Functional & Technical Skills
- Executes the timely delivery of goods and documents, requiring accuracy, understanding and concise proof-reading to successfully support delivery of goods to the customers
- Serves as liaison between internal customer base and external logistics providers, providing quotes, arranging freight, communicating logistics protocols, and providing instructions to customers and logistics partners
- Monitor, track and communicate shipment status for all machine movement and customer orders
- Ensure on time delivery throughout the logistics process
- Utilize appropriate shipping methods (FCL, LCL, FTL, LTL, air, intermodal, rail, ocean, etc.) to maximize service and minimize cost
- Support weekend emergency orders on an as needed basis.
Compliance
- Ensures international shipments meet all regulatory and corporate guidelines
- Manage NAFTA and certificate of origin submission activity.
- Coordinate efficient Canadian/Mexican border crossings for machines and/or spare parts moves.
- Participate in the development and publishing of internal and external procedure documents related to Global logistics
- Keep accurate records of documentation related to international trade.
- Code and approve freight bills for payment in Loram 3rd party freight agent system.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in business, supply chain, finance, or related field
Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience in one or a combination of the following: logistics, trade compliance, supply chain, or related field
- 2+ year of International Logistics and Distribution experience dealing with customs, freight forwarders and import/export transactions
*7+ years combination of education and experience in logistics, distribution and trade compliance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- General understanding of complex federal import/export laws and regulations including but not limited to the U.S. Customs regulations, FDA regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and product classification (HTS and ECCN)
- Understanding of NAFTA and other global trade programs
- Knowledge of all Microsoft applications and general ERP systems (IFS knowledge a plus)
- Excellent communication skills needed to follow up and track down shipped materials & equipment.
- Ability to create legal documents required for shipments both inside and outside of North America.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active Customs Broker License
- Experience in performing accurate Tariff Classification
- International experience in Brazil, India and China markets
- Experience in working with railroad transit/logistics desired
