GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The role of the Senior Infrastructure Engineer is a global role with responsibilities across all Loram locations worldwide. The position will manage all aspects of systems including design, architecture, availability, reliability, performance, monitoring, support, maintenance, upgrades, and security. The engineer must be able to work with very little supervision in a highly charged and fast paced environment. This position has a significant role in maintaining business continuity and disaster recovery.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Infrastructure Management
- Design, install, configure, and troubleshoot IT infrastructure components, such as servers, storage, network devices, cloud services, and virtualization platforms.
- Monitor and optimize IT infrastructure performance, availability, and security, using tools and best practices.
- Participate in planning and execution of tasks related to the evaluation of new initiatives (such as upgrading versions, third-party solutions, integration with enterprise systems and new subsidiaries).
- In-depth technical knowledge of assigned systems.
- Develop and maintain corresponding system documentation.
- Perform typical system administrative activities such as monitoring resources, verifying backups, issue resolution, applying updates, performing upgrades, and taking steps to ensure business continuity.
- Work with IT Project Managers and Business Analysts to design and develop solutions to address business needs and opportunities and propose changes that would make more effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and standards, as well as with industry regulations and best practices.
- Management of all backup procedures and active part in disaster recovery and business continuity process.
General Support
- Provide capacity planning, monitoring, and maintenance of designated system(s) while identifying trends or problems.
- In depth understanding of the business processes supported by the systems.
- Ensure continuity and quality by owning the resolution of issues across platforms. Track progress and escalating as appropriate unless resolution reached.
- Update, respond to, and close helpdesk tickets as assigned keeping users informed as to progress.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or related field*
Experience: 12+ years of experience supporting operating systems, client server architecture and network devices
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of Computer Hardware, Windows, Linux and virtualization platforms.
- A sense of urgency in solving customer requests to ensure timely resolution and an ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff on all levels within the Company.
- In depth knowledge of the Company’s hardware and software platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A disciplined work ethic and advocate for Loram management’s mission and vision.
- Ability to lead large work volumes, show flexibility, and adapt easily to change.
*Or 16+ years of combination of education and experience in supporting operating systems, client server architecture and network devices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: 15+ years working in a general support environment in addition to required qualifications
Licenses/Certifications: Any IT related training and certifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Rail Industry knowledge
