GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

Loram is growing its AI/ML team to support increased demand for advanced insights into the inspection data we collect for our customers around the world. We are a small team that manages the entire project lifecycle from gathering requirements to debugging deployed models. Being on a small team, you will have an outsized impact on how Loram performs its inspections and the quality of the maintenance work we do and recommendations we make to our customers.

                             

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Strategic and Functional

  • AI/ML Development & Deployment
    • Work with customers and stakeholders to develop requirements and scope for new projects.
    • Develop and maintain pipelines for generating annotations, building datasets, training, and deploying models.
    • Develop computer vision and machine learning based solutions for our inspection platforms.
    • Create predictive models using historical and current inspection data.
    • Implement data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and tuning.
    • Work with the software team to integrate models into production applications.
    • Deploy and manage lifecycle of models in cloud (AWS, Databricks) and on edge devices (Triton Inference Server, custom applications).
    • Leverage cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for AI/ML model training and deployment.
    • Implement MLOps best practices for continuous integration, deployment, and monitoring of ML models.
    • Optimize model performance in terms of accuracy, speed, and scalability.
  • Data Science & Analytics
    • Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and drive business decisions.
    • Develop statistical models and algorithms to solve complex business problems.
    • Work with structured and unstructured data from various sources, ensuring data quality and integrity.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering for candidates with a Bachelor or Master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in an AI/ML engineering role for candidates without a degree in a related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong proficiency in Python, and AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, OpenCV, Scikit-Learn, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of deep learning and computer vision.
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies and data pipeline development (Databricks).
  • Knowledge of MLOps tools and CI/CD workflows for AI/ML applications.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with line scan data, laser profilers, depth maps, x-ray images, ground penetrating radar.
  • Experience with data cleaning and engineering
  • Experience implementing custom models and developing pipelines from scratch.
  • Experience with robotics, localization/SLAM, sensor fusion.
  • Familiarity with edge AI and IoT-driven machine learning solutions.
  • Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects or research publications.
  • Experience with generative AI models, transformers, LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face).

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires successful completion of:

  • A pre-employment physical exam and job-specific assessments, which include:
    • Non-DOT Physical
    • DOT Drug Screen / Breath Alcohol Test
    • Audiogram
