GENERAL DESCRIPTION/PURPOSE:
The Chief Engineer, Tie Data Analytics is a global leadership position responsible for performing assessments of data quality for Loram’s Aurora inspection technology, developing analytical modules for automated dataset analysis, and creating user-friendly reports to disseminate results directly to Loram digital service customers. Additional responsibilities include tracking raw data quality, reporting problematic trends for intervention, developing new algorithms to evaluate data, and ultimately developing predictive modeling for data-driven solutions. This role also oversees the integration of new analytical processes into internally developed software applications. The Chief Engineer, Tie Data Analytics will manage the inspection technology team, including Data Processing Technicians, the Aurora Data Analysts, and Engineers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Product Strategy, Design and Analysis
- Suggest and debate alternative methods to solve technical problems and meet changing market opportunities by developing new or enhancing existing product and service offerings in Tie inspection.
- Stay abreast of technical developments in the industry by reviewing technical publications and participating in relevant industry meetings and events. Where feasible, participate in industry events to gain Loram recognition within the industry and promote services provided.
- Effectively identify and communicate key market and product information that will help other Loram stakeholders make reasonable and forward-thinking decisions
- Develop and apply data analysis techniques to evaluate, automate and maintain data and system to scale capabilities while upholding quality requirements.
- Simulate what-if scenarios to improve decision-making, perform root cause analysis for troubleshooting, and determine data trends to predict future states.
- Express knowledge of fundamental data analysis techniques and continue to learn and apply advanced analysis methodologies.
Data Exploration
- Integrate disparate datasets over time, location, and source, including historical data, external customer data, and data from existing and emerging sources.
- Monitor data quality and quantity, conducting creative and real-world analyses to isolate problems.
- Stay current with emerging techniques through continuing education, trade publications, and industry conferences.
- Communications
Business and Customer Management
- Develop and cultivate effective relationships with customers and other industry leaders.
- Work with customers to determine areas of opportunities, support and/or encourage railroads’ efforts in justifying and expanding budgets for Loram’s products and services and assist in the development and execution of customer contractual requirements.
- Educate and train key railroad personnel on proper application and evaluation techniques. Develop analytical techniques and reports in order to communicate and demonstrate quality and effectiveness of Loram services.
Leadership and Talent Development
- Holds team members accountable to collaborate openly and inclusively with peers in other departments and/or subsidiaries to ensure productive and positive employee experience for all Loram employees
- Promote a culture of innovation, strategic thinking, and operational excellence across all departments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience working with technical data analysis and customer engagement.
Licenses/Certifications: Maintain Railroad Certifications and safety training
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Master’s Degree or Advanced Technical Degree preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of supervisory experience preferred.

Starting pay for the position is between $117,000-$146,250
