GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Technician I, Data Processing is responsible for managing the flow of raw data from field operations, generation of track condition reports, Quality Assurance report verification and delivery of reports and data to customers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Accountability and Responsibility
- Use proprietary software to generate reports from large data files.
- Perform quality control checks of the data and accuracy of reports.
- Ability to identify data or process problems.
- Deliver reports and data to customers according to schedules.
- Manage data files, backups, reports, and archive storage media.
- Observe official released software versions to identify potential bugs and submit improvement recommendations to Aurora Technical Coordinator for review.
- Bring new ideas and methods to the Aurora team.
Communications
- Perform weekly written progress reports to manager/supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with top-level management, field operators, analyst, and other team members.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Minimum 1 years; experience working with computers with multiple monitors, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint), Google Earth, remote desktop connection, PC systems, application simultaneously, multi-tasking, performing basic math, operations or experience with data or numerical computations, recognizing real or erroneous data patterns, and function in a fast-pace environment.
Licenses/Certifications: Maintain Railroad Certifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Background in computer operations or experience with data or numerical computations.
- Intermediate level computer skills utilizing multiple monitors, Remote Desktop Connections, Network Drives, and applications simultaneously.
- Proficiency in basic math and English.
- Strong analytical/reasoning skills utilizing pattern recognition.
- Ability to identify real or erroneous data patterns.
- Strong multitasking abilities.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to adhere to processes and instruction yet retain flexibility to adjust to required process changes.
- Ability and willingness to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time.
- Available to work any shifts.
- Ability and motivation to work well with minimal supervision.
- Strong data & PC organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associates Degree or 2-year college level course work emphasizing science, math, or technology.
Experience: Minimum 1 years’ experience working with data analysis and writing or utilizing basic SQL queries.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
